About This Calculator

The Time Card Calculator helps you track work hours across multiple days and calculate weekly totals. Enter your clock-in and clock-out times for each day, along with break durations, and the calculator will compute daily hours and total hours worked.

This calculator is useful for employees tracking their hours, employers calculating payroll, and anyone needing to record and sum work time. It handles multiple days, break times, and displays results in hours:minutes format and decimal hours for payroll.

Formula & Calculation Method

Time Card Calculation:

Daily Hours:
Time In = Start time (hours:minutes)
Time Out = End time (hours:minutes)
Break Time = Break duration (minutes)
Daily Hours = (Time Out - Time In) - Break Time

Weekly Total:
Total Hours = Sum of all daily hours
Decimal Hours = Total Minutes ÷ 60

Each day's hours are calculated by finding the difference between clock-out and clock-in times, then subtracting break time. The weekly total is the sum of all daily hours, displayed in both hours:minutes and decimal format.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate daily work hours?

Subtract your clock-in time from your clock-out time, then subtract your break duration. For example, if you work 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 1-hour break, you worked 7 hours (8 hours - 1 hour break).

Can I track multiple days?

Yes, you can add multiple days to track a full week or any number of work days. The calculator automatically sums all daily hours to show your total hours worked.

How are overnight shifts handled?

The calculator automatically handles shifts that extend past midnight. If your clock-out time is earlier than your clock-in time, it assumes you worked until the next day.

What format should I use for times?

Enter times in 24-hour format (HH:MM), for example "09:00" for 9 AM and "17:00" for 5 PM. The time fields only accept 24-hour HH:MM values — they do not accept 12-hour AM/PM input. Make sure to use the colon (:) separator.
