About This Calculator

The Salary Calculator helps you determine your take-home pay after accounting for federal taxes, state taxes, Social Security, and Medicare deductions. Enter your salary in any frequency format (annual, monthly, weekly, hourly, or bi-weekly) and see your net pay.

This calculator provides an estimate of your take-home pay. Actual deductions may vary based on your specific tax situation, deductions, exemptions, and state of residence. Consult a tax professional for precise calculations.

Formula & Calculation Method

Take-Home Pay Calculation:

Convert to Annual: Based on pay frequency
Federal Tax = Annual Salary × Federal Tax %
State Tax = Annual Salary × State Tax %
Social Security = Annual Salary × 6.2% (up to wage base)
Medicare = Annual Salary × 1.45%
Total Deductions = Federal + State + SS + Medicare
Net Pay = Gross Annual - Total Deductions
Monthly = Net Annual ÷ 12
Bi-Weekly = Net Annual ÷ 26
Weekly = Net Annual ÷ 52
Hourly = Net Annual ÷ 2,080

Note: Social Security tax applies only to income up to the wage base limit ($168,600 in 2024). Medicare has an additional 0.9% surtax on high earners. Actual tax rates depend on your tax bracket, deductions, and exemptions.
