About This Calculator

The Day Counter helps you calculate the number of days, weeks, months, and years between two dates. It's useful for planning events, tracking project timelines, counting down to special occasions, and calculating date differences.

This tool is essential for event planning, project management, and personal date calculations. Simply enter a start date and end date, and the calculator will show you the exact number of days between them, along with approximate weeks, months, and years.

Formula & Calculation Method

Day counting uses the following calculations:

  • Days: (End Date - Start Date) / (1000 × 60 × 60 × 24) milliseconds, + 1 for inclusive counting (both endpoints counted)
  • Weeks: Days / 7
  • Months: Days / 30.44 (average days per month)
  • Years: Days / 365.25 (average days per year, accounts for leap years)

Where:

  • Date difference is calculated in milliseconds
  • 1 day = 24 hours = 1,440 minutes = 86,400 seconds = 86,400,000 milliseconds
  • Average month length accounts for varying month lengths (28-31 days)
  • Average year length accounts for leap years (366 days every 4 years)
